Never go on a diet again

Never go on a diet again

If you want to lose weight, the first word that probably pops into your head is ‘diet’.

What do you think of when you hear the word diet? Does it fill you with enthusiasm, excitement and positivity? I’m guessing not!

Not only is it a depressing word and a depressing concept, diets DON’T work. Diets are short term…designed to ‘fix’ the problem of being overweight. And yes, cutting out naughty foods and drastically reducing calories will most certainly cause you to lose weight but does it lead to the problem being permanently ‘fixed’?

Unfortunately not.

For most of us it is part of a never ending vicious cycle:

But ladies, it doesn’t have to be like this. There are other ways.

How?

First of all get out of the ‘diet’, ‘quick fix’ mentality

If it isn’t something you can keep up for every more then don’t do it. There’s really no point. No more drastic detoxes, no more cutting out foods or starving yourself.

Take the emphasis off weight loss

Why are we all so fixated with what the scales say? Does anyone else care what you weigh? It is so random that we allow our happiness in our bodies to be dictated to by little numbers on the scales that mean nothing. Weight isn’t even an accurate…it fluctuates depending on time of day/ time of month/ body composition. Plus, the idea of ‘losing weight’ implies that at some point we will get it back! We aren’t losing weight we are getting rid of it forever.

Put the emphasis on overall health and well being

Eat to glow, eat to energy, eat to feel good. Most of us don’t know how good our bodies are designed to feel. A rainbow diet with plenty of fresh, unprocessed foods will help your energy levels soar and you’ll start to feel amazing. Rather than focusing on all the foods you have to cut out, look at all the amazing foods you can add in to your diet. Once you get used to the idea that you are filling your body with goodness, weight loss often happen naturally.

Learn to love yourself now

When we are unhappy with ourselves we tend to fixate on the idea of losing weight as the key to happiness. It isn’t. If you aren’t happy with yourself now, the chances are that you’ll lose weight and then find something else to fixate on. Start to change the way you view yourself. Try to be positive more than negative. Pick out the things you like about yourself and don’t just focus on the physical. Our family and friends love us for who we are, not what we look like.
