So why was today’s online workout so amazing?

Hopefully you are reading this after you’ve done it so you can feel super smug. If you haven’t done it yet though, hopefully this list of why it is so good for you will convince you to get up and get it done! Here we go:

Each exercise is a whole body move:

This means they work lots of major muscle groups, not just one. This is fab because the more muscle groups you work, the more calories you burn. It also means your heart has to work hard to keep blood pumping to the working muscles. When your heart works hard, it gets stronger.

Burpees are brilliant:

They are tough and if you haven’t done them before you might struggle with them Don’t worry, keep persevering and they will get easier. And it is worth it – burpees burn lots of calories and the movement from the floor jumping up means your heart is working extra hard.

Slow mountain climbers are amazing!

They work your core as well as your arms and shoulders (which stabilise) and your legs (which move). The slower the better with these – all about control. They work your deep inner core muscles (TVA) which run around your middle like a belt. The stronger they are the more pulled in your waist will be and the more they protect your lower back.

Squat and reach for a fabulous bottom:

Squats are an amazing lower body exercise. Squeeze your bum and pull up your pelvic floor as you rise up and you’ll get glutes of steel! Add in a reach (with or without a weight) and it turns it into a whole body exercise. You’ll notice your heart rate goes up more when you add in the reach because the blood has got to go further to all the muscles being used.

Moving plank is simply fabulous:

In fact if I had to pick just 2 moves to do for the rest of my life, I would go for burpees and moving plank! Moving plank is a tricky exercise but start off doing it on your knees and work up to toes. It works your deep inner core muscles as well as your arms, shoulders and back.
