Feel your best and ditch the guilt

Feel your best and ditch the guilt

Feel your best and ditch the guilt…it is possible, I promise!

We’re not quite out of the Covid woods and life is still feeling far from normal…yet, it’s slowly resuming. Schools are reopening, people are back at work and although masks and social distancing are part of our lives, we can pretty much go anywhere and do anything again (kind of!).

Lockdown took it’s toll mentally and physically on most of us. I don’t know about you but I started off feeling pretty positive. I was determined I would come out of it stronger, fitter and more content. It didn’t quite happen like that. Lockdown lethargy was 100% real.

HOWEVER one thing it did teach me was to slow down. Life doesn’t have to be lived at 100 miles an hour and busier does not equal better.

And if we can take away one thing from 2020, it’s to keep things simple and minimise stress.

As life gets back to normal it will be tempting to go straight back into old routines and habits. And in this, I can guarantee that once again you and your needs will be shifted to the bottom of the pile. Life will return to routine of work, school, after school activities, play dates, cooking, cleaning, etc, etc. How often do you get to the end of the day feeling absolutely exhausted with zero energy? The only thing you feel like doing is slumping on the sofa with a glass of wine and Netflix? Believe me, I know exactly how you feel.

BUT now is the chance to do something about this. Take the chance to reflect on your life and work out a way so your needs aren’t last all the time. And before you think that its a lovely idea but just not going to happen, think again. It’s not only possible but essential. If you’re attempting to be superwoman, all day, every day then sooner or later you’re going to burn out. Your health will suffer and you’ll have nothing left to give.

What if, by taking a little bit of time for yourself each day, you could actually become a better version of yourself and feel your best all the time?

What if, by occasionally putting your needs first,  you have more energy and more enthusiasm for life in general?

Wouldn’t everyone benefit?

I think the idea of putting ourselves first brings on complex feelings of guilt…almost like we don’t deserve to spend time on ourselves. It’s time we ditched the guilt and focus on feeling good.

What’s the key to feeling good and having more energy?

Quite simply, it’s look after your body and mind.

And a massive part of that is your health and fitness. If you survive on junk food for a quick burst of energy and your only exercise is to walk to the kitchen to make a cuppa, then you won’t feel your best. You’ll probably feel sluggish and tired a lot of the time and I suspect that your clothes will be tight and uncomfortable. When you feel like this, day in, day out, you’ve probably forgotten what it’s like to wake up and feel good and excited about the day ahead.

Now, knowing you want to put yourself first is one thing, doing it and knowing where to start is another. Making changes to your life can feel overwhelming and another thing that needs to be fitted in on top of everything else.

Don’t panic, this is where I come in.
