Beat cravings – don’t buy it and you won’t eat it

Monday again and day 34 for me ?

Hello! Let’s have a quick focus on how to beat cravings.

Sorry for the lack of posts over the weekend – I had an awful headache that refused to shift. It means that I’ve barely looked at my phone or laptop so today I’m catching up.

Yesterday was one of those days where chocolate seemed like the only answer…but because I didn’t have any in the house I didn’t give in.

Simple really – if it’s not there, you can’t eat it!

The thought of going to a shop to buy some was far too much effort and today I’m feeling very happy I didn’t indulge. It probably would have made me feel better for the 2 minutes it took to eat it and then I would have had to deal with sugar overload on top of my headache.

It’s why I encourage all of my lovely ladies to get rid of temptation as much as possible. If it’s easily accessible, you will 100% have a day where the temptation gets to much and you’ll cave.

Cravings generally last around 10 minutes before they fade so if you don’t have any unhealthy foods around, the chances are you’ll beat them. It’s also why you should never, ever go shopping when hungry. The smell of freshly baked bread or doughnuts will get you every time.

If however, you have kids or a partner who like to have treats then it might not be realistic to have no unhealthy food in the house. Instead, put them away, out of sight, in one cupboard. Get used to thinking of this cupboard as out of bounds to you. The more you stick to it, the less often you’ll be tempted to raid it.

The other benefit of feeling a bit rubbish for a couple of days is that it makes me extra appreciative of feeling good again. Yesterday everything was a struggle and seemed overwhelming. I felt homesick and pretty down in the dumps. Poor Martin took the brunt of it ?Today I woke up headache free and on top of life again! Hurray!

And on that note, have a fabulous Monday. New week…get it started in the best way.
